Gabe Hobbs is back for the seventh year with a peek at the total talk universe among all 2,107 talk stations in every single Nielsen rated market. A look at 150 of the top talk radio stations in America. We will look at Adults 25-54 again this year in the PPM markets only. 2019 saw the talk format trend slightly upward and this year we'll find out if a hotly contested election kept our format going in the right direction. Pt 1 & 2 With Kipper McGee At 'TSBC 12's Virtual Adventure'
Even before the pandemic, changes in our industry fueled by consolidation, downsizing and other constraints forced a number of broadcasters to take a hard look at their future in radio. Many hunkered down and stayed the course. Others decided to take complete charge their careers. Kim Komando, media juggarnaut of consumer technology, and Doug Stephan, syndicated host on hundreds of stations across America, are a couple who did just that and have never looked back.
In Part one of 'Taking Charge of Your Career,' longtime talk programmer and certified digital marketing specialist Kipper McGee sits down with Kim Komando to reveal how she went from hosting a late-night call-in show on computers in Phoenix to becoming one of the top entrepreneurs in media.
Kim, whose radio show now airs on well-over 400 stations, transitioned her show into a media empire. In addition to her radio show, heard worldwide, she hosts podcasts that reach a massive audience each week, plus she host her own TV show. Add to this a slew of product endorsements and much more.
In part two of taking control of your career, Kipper is joined by Doug Stephan, host of the syndicated DVJ show. Doug started his national show in October of 1988, just a few months after Rush Limbaugh began his syndication. At one point Doug's show aired on over 585 plus stations. Today, in addition to his daily show, he also hosts a variety of other shows, plus a podcast. To date he's appeared on virtually every independent network that has ever existed.
